We provide a free service for people having money problems, in
particular with debts.
Our Credit & Debt Advocates are accredited Financial Counsellors (FCAN)
and receive ongoing training and supervision.
We don't tell you what to do, we help you to look at the options available.
We can offer support when you decide what to do.
We help you understand what will happen once you've made your decision.
We act independently and without conflict of interest as we don't get
any money from banks, credit unions etc.
We provide information on:
*your rights regarding debt and debt collection
*assessing your financial situation and your options
*how to talk to your creditors
*bankruptcy
*credit laws and practices
We don't:
*give information on investments
* do tax returns
*recommend sources of credit
*help you to get extra credit
*give out charitable assistance, emergency relief money or
electricity (EAPA) vouchers.
Our funding comes from the Commonwealth Financial Counselling Program
and the NSW Credit Counselling Program.
